Septic rules in Osceola County

The Osceola health department's septic page says the Onsite Sewage Program has moved to DEP, and the same page says the county health department offices will continue the permitting and inspection; DEP's own list of the counties it permits doesn't name Osceola. The Florida Department of Health in Osceola County's Environmental Public Health office is at 407-742-8606, fax 407-552-0160. No street address, application form or fee appears on that page, so ask the office for the form and the current price before a quote includes the permit.

Osceola's four places over 10,000 people, Kissimmee, St. Cloud and Buenaventura Lakes among them, hold 186,927 residents, not the whole county. Toho Water Authority's eastern system serves 110,102 people from ground water and the City of St. Cloud's 82,752, EPA says; neither figure separates septic homes from sewered ones.

Inspection at sale
The county says it has no such rule. A state statute, section 381.0065(4)(v), bars any government-mandated septic inspection at the point of sale in a Florida real estate transaction.
Still to confirm with the county
The county health department's page says the Onsite Sewage Program has moved to DEP and also that the county offices continue the permitting and inspection; DEP's list of counties it permits does not include Osceola.

Rules and fees change every year, so confirm a line with the health department before you rely on it. "No rule found" means the pages and code we have say nothing on that line, which isn't the same as the county telling you there's no rule. To compare counties, use the county rules lookup.
