Who this policy covers
SepticMatch (septicmatchusa.com) is a referral service. You tell us what septic work you need and where your house is, and we send your request to one independent septic service company. This policy covers what we collect on septicmatchusa.com and what we do with it. It does not cover the company that receives your request, which has its own policy.
What we collect
When you use the form: the job you picked, your ZIP code, your name, your phone number and your email address, and your answers to our triage questions. We also keep a record of your consent, with the wording you saw, the date and time, and the page you were on.
When you visit: technical data such as your IP address, browser, device and the pages you viewed, from which we can infer a rough location. When you call a number on our site: call details, which may include the number you called from and the length of the call, and a recording where the call-tracking service records and tells you so.
Why we collect it
To send your request to a company that works your county, so that it can call you. To keep a record that you agreed to be contacted. To answer your questions and complaints, to prevent fraud and abuse, to find and fix errors on the site, and to meet legal duties.
Cookies and analytics
We do not use advertising cookies. Our host and our form tool may set cookies or keep logs that the site needs to work and to stay secure. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies, does not fingerprint your browser or device, and collects no personal data. If we add another, this page will name it before we do.
Sale, sharing and opt-out signals
Passing your request to the company we match you with is how the service works, and some privacy laws would describe that as a sale or a sharing of personal information. You can opt out on the do not sell page, and we treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as an opt-out request. An opt-out stops us from sending your details to a company on future requests, and it cannot recall a request already sent.
Calls and texts
If you tick the consent box, the company we match you with, or a referral partner acting for it, may call and text you about your request at the number you gave. The consent box is not a condition of buying anything. You can reply STOP to a text to opt out, and you can ask the company that called to stop.
How long we keep it
We keep request records for as long as we need them to run the service, to answer complaints and to meet legal duties, and we delete or de-identify them when we no longer do. Consent records are kept as long as the request they relate to.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, state privacy laws may give you the right to know what we hold, to correct it, to delete it, to opt out of sale or sharing, and to appeal a refusal. We offer the same choices to every visitor, whatever the law requires. Write to support@septicmatchusa.com, and tell us the email address or phone number you used. An authorized agent may write for you with your written permission. If we refuse a request, you may appeal by writing to us again with the word Appeal.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that yours will never be exposed.
Children
The site is for adults who own or manage a house. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we post the new version with a new effective date. If the change is material, we will say so on the form before you submit.
