Septic rules in Collin County
Collin County Development Services, in Engineering, issues septic permits through its citizen self-service portal for property outside city limits. Its FAQ says to look up your city on TCEQ's authorized-agent list, and if the city isn't listed, Collin County is the authorized agent. The county's rules are Court Order No. 2008-187-03-11, which the page calls stricter than the state rules. The affidavit goes to the County Clerk. The county also posts an Affidavit of OSSF Requiring Maintenance form and an Aerobic Systems Information Sheet.
Collin County's posted fee sheet lists $310 for a residential permit with no maintenance and $335 with maintenance. That sheet is dated 8/31/2011, so the amounts may have changed. The county page leaves two things to the Court Order: how long a maintenance contract must run, and whether a homeowner may maintain the system. Read the order, or ask Development Services, before you sign a maintenance contract.
